Victor Uwaifo (born 1941) is a legendary Nigerian highlife and jùjú musician from Benin City who became the first Nigerian artist to win a gold disc with his 1969 song 'Joromi.' The song drew from Bini mythology and became one of the most recognizable Nigerian songs of the 20th century. Known as the 'Guitar Boy,' he was a multi-instrumentalist, sculptor, and professor who received the national honor of MFR for his contributions to Nigerian arts and culture.
