Cardinal Rex Lawson is a Nigerian Highlife and Ijaw music legend born in Buguma, Rivers State. Often called the 'Mayor of Highlife,' he began his career in the 1950s and pioneered a distinctive Rivers-influenced highlife style that incorporated Ijaw traditional rhythms. His influence on the Rivers and Delta State music scenes has been immeasurable, with a career spanning over six decades.
