Biography
William Onyeabor (1946–2017) was a Nigerian musician and entrepreneur from Enugu who self-produced nine pioneering albums of synthesizer-driven electronic funk between 1977 and 1985, pressing and distributing them from his own plant, Wilfilms Limited. Though he withdrew from music to become a devout Christian and never granted interviews or performed live, his recordings were rediscovered internationally through 2010s reissues and earned cult status through admirers including David Byrne and Damon Albarn.
